What is I heart Market?
I heart Market is a community of makers. For 11 years, we’ve been creating a platform for local design, craft, fashion and food.
I heart Market is the anti-mall – providing a retail space for local creatives, that is also a great day out in Durban’s up-and-coming Point Waterfront.
On market day, Durbanites and visitors, friends and family gather at The Hay Store to meet the makers, people watch, eat great food and support local artisans and crafters.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Due to Covid 19 pandemic, I heart Market is not trading IRL. We are however having Virtual Markets on our social media platfroms. Follow along to Shop Small! : )
When does I heart Market take place?
I heart Market takes place on the first Saturday of every month from 9 AM to 2 PM. The exception is in December when we hold 3 (or more) markets on each Saturday before Christmas.
From time to time we may have other market events at different venues.
To confirm these dates – cast your eye over to our Facebook events.

Tell me about Parking and Admission?
There are 206 street parkings and the Point Waterfront is monitored by CCTV cameras and roaming guards. If you’re an early bird, you might get lucky and bag a street parking.
The next best option is directly across the road at uShaka Marine World. uShaka Parking A is situated on the Point Rd side of uShaka Marine World. It has 468 parkings. The first hour is free. The second hour is R17 and each additional hour is R1 per hour.
uShaka Parking B is situated on the beach side is R27 unlimited and there are 400 parkings available here.
Admission to I heart Market is R20 for adults, R10 for pensioners and free for kids under 12. If your mode of transport to I heart is via bicycle, we’ll treat you to a half-price entrance fee.
Everybody is welcome!
What should I expect?
We have put together a collection of the best creatives. You’ll find a wide range of different products that are all locally designed and produced and of great quality. Expect fashion, jewellery, home decor, kiddies wear, plants, natural skincare, deli goods, accessories, vintage collectables, art, ceramics and delicious foods.
What payment is accepted at the market?
Through our partnership with Yoco, you’ll find that many traders accept cards. Some have Zapper. All traders accept cash. There are ATMs situated at Ushaka Marine World and an ABSA and Nedbank at the Engen on Mahatma Ghandi Rd just before you arrive at the Hay Store.
I can’t find the vendor I am looking for!
Not every vendor trades at every market. Pop past our market tables, situated next to the DJ under the trees and we will try and locate the vendor for you.
Can you give me a particular vendor’s contact number?
As a rule, we do not give out vendor’s contact details but we can direct you to their online presence or pass your details on to them. The best way to do this is pop us a mail on firstname.lastname@example.org – if you don’t know the traders name then please give us as much info as possible so that we can point you in the right direction. ie: where the stall is situated, in which tent, a detailed description of what they sell etc.
The weather doesn’t look good… Will the market still be on?
For sure! We’re safely under cover in a building so you’ll always find us on the first Saturday of the month.
